FORTH COMING CHANGES IN JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATION AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY
The department takes in a hundred and sixty students per intake.It is restructuring to become a school.
DR.William Tayeebwa is the head of journalism Department in Makerere.
According to Dr.Tayeebwa,the department is in the process of developing three undergraduate programmes:
- Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies
- Bachelor of Public Relations
- Bachelor of New Media and Digital Production
- Masters of Journalism and Multimedia Studies
- Masters of Strategic and Corporate communication
Restarting postgraduate Diploma in Investigative Journalism and introduce another Diploma programme in Business Journalism.
Despite the limited facilities,the department started the Journalism@Mak website platform which helps students practice in multimedia production.
The department is preparing to boost equipment for the media computer Laboratory to help students in learning New Media and digital productions.
